TEMPORARY OCCUPATION
Temporary occupation is an interesting tool for urban development. But how can it be implemented in practice? Last year, the BMA and perspective.brussels developed a legal study to better understand the legislation on temporary occupation and its urban planning implications. The aim of the study was to gain a better understanding of the applicable rules and gaps in terms of permits, standards, fire safety, etc. for buildings and sites potentially available for temporary occupation. In order to carry out this work in a comprehensive manner, various stakeholders with experience in the field were invited to present their experiences: what obstacles are encountered? What solutions are possible? Users of precarious occupation and public project owners were brought together in three workshops, during which they were able to react to the research work previously carried out by Nicolas Bernard (Université Saint-Louis). The result was a series of questions and answers that can be used by owners and users alike, available in the form of a mini website.
