The Brussels Region has selected 2 areas that will benefit from a sustainable neighbourhood contract, the \u2018Villas de Ganshoren\u2019 district and \u2018Conscience\u2019, the central area of the commune of Evere. For the first time, the boundaries are extended to areas newly integrated into the ZRU 2020 in order to widen the impact of the urban regeneration mechanisms.<\/p>\n

\nSituated near the Ganshoren marsh and the regional border, the Villas district oscillates between town and country with a contrasting landscape. Blocks of small houses from the 1940s and 1950s stand next to large towers built in the 1960s and 1970s, forming large social housing complexes.
\nA small, outlying area, the Villas district aims to create a welcoming, green living environment, new facilities adapted to its needs, a new dynamic for neighbourhood life and links between residents, as well as a typological diversification of housing.
\nThe future community centre being developed on the site also aims to recreate links and social cohesion, and the CQD represents a complementary opportunity for the Villas district.<\/p>\n
\nConscience is a central district of the municipality of Evere and is characterised by its particularly dense network of dwellings occupying almost the entire surface of the blocks. Crossed by a shopping street with little variety, the area has no green space and few public spaces. The district’s collective infrastructure is limited to the 3 schools scattered over the territory, which undermines the potential for community spirit. There is a need to look at developments that are conducive to neighbourhood life and meet the needs of the inhabitants, to improve the general living environment and to create dynamism for the inhabitants by working on collective infrastructure, public spaces and roads.<\/p>\n\n
