Located on Rue Royale, at the intersection of the Royal Route, the inner ring road and the Botanical Garden, the P&V tower occupies a particularly prominent position in the Brussels cityscape. Built in 1954 following an architectural competition won by architect Hugo Van Kuyck, the tower is a significant example of post-war office architecture in Brussels. At the time, it was one of the first office buildings in Belgium to make use of a curtain-wall system. Seventy years later, despite several targeted alterations, its external envelope and technical systems are approaching the end of their service life and require extensive renovation. <\/p>\n
Through this renovation, insurance group P&V aims to build on the ambition of 1954, going beyond the expected technical and environmental requirements to create a distinctive architectural project capable of renewing the tower’s image and reinforcing its presence in the urban landscape.<\/p>\n
The transformation concerns both the tower and its podium. The latter will need to open more towards the city to strengthen its interaction with the public realm and the Botanical Garden. It will accommodate functions that are open to the city, while its roof will also be activated to contribute fully to the quality and use of the project. On the upper floors, the office spaces will be redesigned to provide the group’s employees with an attractive working environment. <\/p>\n
The challenge is therefore to breathe new life into a building that is more than 70 years old, addressing simultaneously its architectural identity, its relationship with the city, the quality of its working spaces and its environmental performance, while ensuring the project’s technical, financial and operational feasibility.<\/p>\n
P&V is looking for a committed team to join it in pursuing this ambition. At the application stage, only expertise in architecture is required.
