The commune of Saint-Gilles has been working for some time on the upgrading of its public spaces, highlighting a series of new or to be developed spaces, from the bottom of Saint-Gilles to the top. \u00a0In particular, the Place Jacques Franck was completed last year, the Parvis has had a new face for the past two years, the Place Marie Janson will also be revitalized as well as the Pierre Paulus Park. Finally, optimisations are planned around Place Morichar, the Laveley Garden and the Horta metro entrance.<\/p>\n
This group of exemplary public spaces extends as far as the City Hall and Van Meenen Square. The municipality therefore now wants to focus its ambition on this area and is asking itself a number of questions: how to give the square back to the inhabitants and users, not only during market times but also outside. Is it possible to transform the entire square into a pedestrian zone or only partially? Is it possible to strongly green the space or is it technically impossible?<\/p>\n
In preparation for the design phase, the municipality of Saint-Gilles wants to investigate the various opportunities: to what extent is it possible to change mobility in and around the square? What is the position of traders, residents and users regarding this redevelopment and how far is it possible to go? The municipality is therefore looking for a competent team in the field of mobility, participation and process supervision.<\/p>\n
The municipality will use the results of this study, which is planned to last only three months, for the design and realisation of the square.<\/p>\n
