WESTSTATION<\/h1>\n

Het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest wou een coherent stedenbouwkundig en landschappelijk kader voorstellen voor de ontwikkeling en begeleiding van vastgoedprojecten en van publieke ruimtes op de site van het Weststation.<\/p>\n

Het braakliggende spoorwegterrein van het Weststation is strategisch gelegen in Sint-JansMolenbeek, op de drempel van twee delen van de gemeente, de dichtbevolkte wijken van het historische Molenbeek enerzijds en de wijken die na de Tweede Wereldoorlog zijn ontwikkeld anderzijds. Op lokaal niveau zien de omwonenden, voetgangers, autobestuurders en fietsers het braakliggende terrein van het Weststation als een abrupte breuk in de stedelijke continu\u00efteit: 13 hectare die verschillende wijken van Molenbeek van elkaar scheidt, een ruim gebied dat ontoegankelijk is voor de dichtbevolkte wijken waar een schrijnend gebrek is aan open ruimtes.<\/p>\n
