For several months now, the Peterbos district in Anderlecht has seen many renovation projects for apartment buildings and public spaces spring up. Since 2018, the renovation dynamic initiated by Comensia and the Foyer anderlechtois has been supported by the “Peterbos” Sustainable Neighbourhood Contract, whose main objective is to enable residents to reclaim the inhabited park and meet the demand for facilities. It is true that this neighbourhood, mainly residential, does not have many facilities extending beyond the park boundaries.

Therefore, the transformation of the Foyer anderlechtois car park is now launched within the framework of the Neighbourhood Contract. This project, led by the municipality of Anderlecht and supported by the Brussels Region, aims to transform the former car park, located in the heart of the park, into a real hub for the district, bringing together a 2400m² sports facility, premises to house the district’s associations (350m²), a community café (300m²) and lively public spaces, particularly on the roof. In this way, the municipality hopes to bring the centre of the Peterbos back to life for its inhabitants as well as for the inhabitants of Anderlecht who come from the surrounding districts.

This is a complete architectural mission for the hub (including engineering and interior design) and for the direct surroundings, including the conversion of the roof into a public space. The project designers will have to take into account the master plan for public spaces that the municipality is currently drawing up, and work in collaboration with the design office that will be appointed for it.
