[BOOKLAUNCH] BRUSSELS HOUSING

Atlas of Residential Building Types (second and expanded edition)

Brussels stands out for the diversity and richness of its housing typologies, ranging from imposing bourgeois mansions to Art Nouveau houses and modernist ensembles. Through an analysis of 121 carefully selected examples, Brussels Housing traces the emergence and transformations of Brussels’ residential architecture, shedding light on the city’s evolution and the challenges of designing urban housing.

This expanded second edition includes:

  • A new chapter by Kristiaan Borret, Innovating in a Limited Territory, which explores contemporary housing challenges in Brussels in the face of spatial and regulatory constraints.
  • 13 new case studies, further enriching the analysis of Brussels’ residential typologies.
  • New photographs by Maxime Delvaux, offering an updated visual perspective on housing architecture in Brussels.
  • A project index, for easier finding the different typologies covered in the book.
