Demolition in order to rebuild can no longer be the standard as it used to be in the past. In a perspective of circular urban development, the maximum preservation of the existing building should be the starting point. However, in the preparation of competitions or the assessment of projects, the technical feasibility of potential reuse is regularly called into question. Therefore, BMA wishes to be able to call on specialized expertise to analyze the suitability of existing buildings for reuse.
We are seeking a small pool of engineering experts who are convinced that the preservation of buildings can be an opportunity in the first place. The engineering expert, together with an architect for the spatial reinterpretation of the buildings, will support BMA, urban.brussels and other government agencies in forming an opinion on potential reuse of buildings. This may involve carrying out a study of the structural condition of the building, an exploration of the spatial and technical possibilities, checking the feasibility of reuse through a cost-benefit analysis or a second opinion based on an already existing study.
Engineering experts are invited to submit a tender in one step at the latest by 03.03.2022 at 2pm. A maximum of three tenderers will then be selected to participate in a framework contract, which will run for a maximum of 4 years. The participants will receive specific study and consultancy assignments under this contract.
