COOP 5: Locations + Coop Lovers

WORKSHOP - May 28th 2024 - 9:30 AM

Are you interested in helping to realise a pilot cooperative housing project? How to support building or land owners to take the next step?

A few weeks ago, we launched a call to owners of land or buildings in Brussels who are concerned about affordable housing and want to consider the possibility of a cooperative housing project. The response was positive, and 5 to 10 sites have emerged.

On 28 May during a workshop, we will facilitate discussions between these owners and coop lovers – Brussels housing cooperatives (in the making) – to explore the feasibility of a pilot project. Experts will be supporting to reflect on financial and legal bottlenecks. This workshop aims to contribute to the growth of the cooperative housing model in Brussels.

What is a housing cooperative? In a housing cooperative, the residents do not own their house or apartment. By purchasing shares, they become co-owners of the cooperative. In exchange for their share, the residents receive lifelong rights to a tailor-made home, as documented in a rental contract.

Do you, as a housing cooperative (in the making) or as an interested individual, would like to join this workshop on 28 May 9h30-12h00 (Naamsestraat 59, 1000 Brussels)? Do you have some (basic) knowledge to contribute to the discussions? Register via this form before 14 May.
