CYCLOSTRADE FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT

Cycling infrastructure

The number of cyclists in Brussels has increased significantly in recent years, certainly also for commuting to work. This evolution in mobility practices has even given rise to the term “Vélotaf”, or “bike commuting”, which was voted word of the year in french-speaking Belgium in 2022. This change in travel habits is accompanied by new quality cycling infrastructure as defined by the regional Good Move plan.

Beliris is one of the players involved in the development of the Véloplus network, and more specifically the network along the railway tracks in Brussels. These “cyclostrades”, or cycle highways, link up to the Flemish and Walloon cycle networks. Cyclostrades are primarily designed for cyclists but must also be accessible to pedestrians. The project must allow for successful coexistence between users and ensure qualitative coexistence between the existing environment and the new infrastructure.

In order to quickly implement these cycle links, Beliris is looking for a pool of 4 teams. These will be assigned, in turn, for designing and realizing sections of these cyclostrades in line with the feasibility studies carried out beforehand. The duration of the framework agreement is 4 years.
