Today, Anderlecht is home to the second largest fire station in the Brussels Region. The building no longer meeting current standards, a new fire station will be built a few hundred meters further on, still on the Chaussée de Mons, on a site extending to the canal. The objective: to improve the quality of the interventions and the comfort of the firefighters/paramedics who will occupy this building 24 hours a day and to give a positive image to this essential public service.
In addition, since the site has a dual orientation, the idea is to combine the fire station programme with a sports hall open to residents, in addition to the sports area reserved exclusively for the training of the fire brigade. A mixed programme, and thus perfectly in line with the continuity of the complex and inspiring projects in the canal zone.
It is therefore within this framework that the Urban Development Corporation (SAU) is launching a service contract for the construction of an Advanced Fire Station (PASI) and sports facility on Chaussée de Mons 409. The client is looking for a multidisciplinary team capable of transforming the mixed character of the programme into an urban, integrated and remarkable architectural form.
