CYCLIST CROSSING

A NEW CYCLIST-PEDESTRIAN CROSSING FOR THE CANAL

Cycling along the canal will improve in Anderlecht, thanks to bike lanes in both directions, well away from the traffic. However, it remains a challenge for those using active modes of transportation to pass safely and easily from one side of the canal to the other. This is why the Brussels Region wishes to install a connection for cyclists and pedestrians as part of the CRU3, of which the perimeter encompasses the Delacroix metro station and the railway stop at Cureghem. The objective: to connect the two districts of Scheut and the Abattoirs, in order to improve soft mobility beyond the border created by the canal, and thus to integrate these two districts more widely in a large cyclable network.

This connection will commence from the Nestlé roundabout and extend to the Chaussée de Mons, crossing the Abattoirs site. The project must also provide the opportunity to update all public areas crossed and to encourage the use of new infrastructure.

Bruxelles Mobilité is looking for a multidisciplinary team for this complete mission.
