Rue Brichaut in Schaerbeek is densely built and dominated by the presence of cars. The municipality has been able to acquire an old garage there and aims to transform the site into a building with 50 childcare places and housing a neighbourhood youth hub. This new facility must be open and welcoming to offer this family-oriented neighbourhood close to Place Liedts, a place to breathe and meet people.
The emphasis of this project to re-purpose and renovate will be on a transversal, sustainable process and on innovative solutions. The building must respect energy efficiency standards and should aim to use materials that are sustainable, re-purposed or sourced from local suppliers, as well as building techniques that are reversible and allow for dismantling.
The municipality of Schaerbeek is therefore looking for a multi-disciplinary team (architecture, landscaping, stability and special techniques engineering, energy efficiency, acoustics and health and safety coordination) for a full project author mission within the framework of the Petite Colline sustainable neighbourhood contract.
