THE ANIMALS AND THE BIKERS OF THE SONIAN FOREST

ECOBRIDGE AND CYCLE PATH

At first glance, an atypical project for Brussels, which is usually seen as a dense urban environment. However, nearly 40% of the Sonian Forest is situated on the territory of the Brussels Region. The Sonian Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has been fragmented by the Chaussée de la Hulpe that runs through it. To counter this division and preserve biodiversity, Beliris is creating a wildlife crossing to allow animals to safely cross the road. This passage, called Ecobridge, will include resting areas and water points for animals. In addition, the bike path along the road is also fragmented. This project will include the creation of a two-way bike path between the Europa roundabout and the regional border, connecting existing sections.

Beliris is therefore looking for a multidisciplinary team to achieve this double ambition of defragmentation in this special project.
