[Exhibition & guided tour] « FROM THE BRUXELLIEN TO THE BRUXELLOCÈNE » – Label 2023

AN EXPLORATION OF BRUSSELS' SOILS AND THEIR STORIES

With the BMA Label, we support unsolicited proposals from citizens’ initiatives or from research and design practice. Many ideas stem from the right intuition but struggle to materialize due to a lack of support, funding, or networks. The BMA Label not only helps them emerge but also provides visibility, guidance, and dedicated funding.

In this context, BMA invites you to discover “From the Bruxellien to the Bruxellocène”, a project initiated under LABEL BMA 2023. This research sheds light on the relationship between Brussels and its soils, particularly its sands, which are not just buried matter but living agents influencing urban, technical, and cultural dynamics. This project reveals a shared history of coexistence between humans, materials, and landscapes, exploring the co-creation and co-alteration of our spaces. It proposes a Brussels geological odyssey, opening perspectives on contemporary land planning and management, as well as new ways of cohabiting with the mineral world.
