The client Tower-Bel, supported by Alides REIM and Whitewood Operations, intends to redevelop the IT Tower, an iconic building located at the corner of Avenue Louise and Avenue Émile De Mot in Brussels. Designed in the late 1960s by architect Walter Bresseleers, the tower is today a landmark in the Brussels skyline and is included in the architectural heritage inventory of the Brussels-Capital Region.
The overall project aims to undertake a thorough renovation of the tower to meet contemporary standards in terms of sustainability and technical performance, while respecting the architectural qualities of the building.
In this context, a call for candidates is launched to appoint a team responsible for developing the design of the tower’s plinth and its surrounding spaces, conceived as a strategic interface between the building and the city. Candidate teams will be invited to propose a landscape and urban approach capable of qualifying these spaces, strengthening the greening of the site and improving the relationship with the surrounding context (notably Avenue Louise, La Cambre Abbaye and the Bois de la Cambre), while embedding the project within an ambitious environmental approach integrating the reuse of existing structures, sustainable water management and the reinforcement of biodiversity.
The other components of the project are being developed through separate mandates within the already appointed design team:
- Architecture – POLO Architects & Alstadt
- MEP engineer – CES
- Structural engineer – Greisch
