The time has come! After months of listening, exploring and consulting, of numerous inspiring encounters and challenging discussions, I am finally proud and delighted to announce that my ambition note as bouwmeester maître architecte for the period 2025–2030 has been approved by the Government of the Brussels-Capital Region.
In this strategic document, you will find the BMA’s priorities and approach for the coming years. It builds on the vision I developed during the selection procedure and has gained further depth and clarity thanks to exchanges with the BMA team, public administrations and numerous partners.
As BMA, I aim first and foremost to be a bridge builder. My ambition is to work constructively with all public and private stakeholders involved in urban development, in order to support projects and enhance their architectural and spatial quality.
This quality cannot be imposed: it is built. It relies on attention to context, a clear vision, appropriate procedures, collaboration between stakeholders and an open, ongoing dialogue. It is a collective responsibility serving society.
The 2025–2030 mandate is structured around four main priorities: the development of affordable housing, the reuse and transformation of existing buildings and materials, the creation of high-quality public spaces from a climate-conscious perspective, and the strengthening of collaboration with the private sector. One transversal objective guides all these actions: improving and streamlining project processes.
Together with the BMA team, I intend to deploy our tools (competitions, design research, advisory work and the BMA label) in support of these ambitions, and to further develop them where necessary.
You can read the full note here(in french) and here (in dutch).
The BMA team and I remain available for further exchange on this approach, these ambitions and all future projects.
I already look forward to working together!
