FUTURE VISION FOR 1000 SOCIAL HOUSING UNITS IN GANSHOREN

LoJeGa, the social housing company in Ganshoren and Jette, is thinking about the future of its estate, and not without significance. On the heights of Ganshoren, no fewer than 1,000 homes in 14 buildings will be the focus of an in-depth study into their future. Renovating such a complex is not a routine operation, so it is essential to prepare well and study all the effects. The aim is not only to renovate and insulate the homes, but also to improve the other functions of the site, such as the car parks and some of the facilities.

This is precisely the purpose of the technical and economic feasibility study that LoJeGa wishes to carry out, and for which the housing company is looking for a motivated multidisciplinary team. There are two parts to this study. The first is to draw up redevelopment and renovation scenarios for eight of the towers, with a coherent phasing, based on a detailed diagnosis of the entire site. The second part concerns the car parks and ground floors of the entire site. The team will explore the spatial and technical opportunities offered by these spaces, with the aim of creating quality spaces that meet the needs of local residents.

This study will be accompanied by temporary occupation of the site and a participatory approach. LoJeGa wants to set up spaces that will allow temporary experimentation with functions and uses throughout the study, in order to refine the overall strategy for redeveloping the ground floors, public spaces and car parks. The team selected will combine good technical and economic skills with the ability to come up with unexpected ideas and uses.
