Peterbos Park is the largest social housing estate in the Brussels-Capital Region, grouping together more than 1,300 dwellings in a landscape park and housing around 4,000 residents.
In recent years, various renovation projects have been launched in Peterbos. Through the Sustainable Neighbourhood Contract ‘Peterbos’, the municipality of Anderlecht will also invest heavily in new neighbourhood facilities and public spaces in the coming years.
Beliris wants to reinforce the renovation dynamic and is therefore looking for a multidisciplinary team to renovate two blocks of flats (Peterbos 17/17a and 18/18a) on the southern side of the park.
The project comprises a total of 181 dwellings and involves the renovation and insulation of the building envelope, the replacement of the ventilation system and the redesign of the emergency exits. The aim is to better integrate the buildings, which are owned by Comensia, into their surroundings, to enhance their legibility and to improve the habitability of the dwellings by providing private outdoor spaces.
Two particular concerns are the redevelopment of the plinth of the Peterbos 17/17a building to maximise the activation of the public space in the heart of the neighbourhood, and an integrated approach to water management to permanently tackle the existing problems of flooding.
