As part of the complete renovation of one of the five housing towers on Mahatma Gandhi Avenue in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Logement Molenbeekois aims to initiate a complementary project that addresses the needs identified in the feasibility study carried out on the site. This study highlighted the necessity for programmatic diversity and social cohesion. To support this transformation at the neighborhood level, a mobile, temporary, and relocatable module will be introduced: a unifying object capable of hosting flexible, multi-purpose spaces that allow for the testing of functions such as a community social outreach center. The module will be able to evolve in its uses and locations depending on the phases of construction and local dynamics.
The main objective of the module is to ensure a continuous presence on site during the renovation of the buildings and their surroundings, by providing a space for information and participation between residents, neighborhood stakeholders, and the ongoing transformations.
Given the specific nature of this contract, the client is looking for an integrated team capable of handling both the design and the construction of this temporary facility. Candidate teams for this contract must therefore include a design entity (architect, structural engineer, building services engineer, MEP coordinator, and energy performance advisor) and an execution component (contractor).
The “design & build” contract type requires designers to enter into a joint partnership with construction companies. Special attention will be paid to the involvement of social economy actors, such as integration enterprises or sheltered workshops, notably through subcontracting.
