PUBLIC SPACE AROUND THE NORTH STATION

Functional and landscape masterplan for the surroundings of the North Station

The North Station area will undergo a profound restructuring linked to the desire to create more diversity and to review the functioning of its intermodal hub. A general and coordinated vision is needed for the redevelopment of the intermodal hub and the public spaces or spaces for public use located nearby.

Brussels Mobility, in coordination with the actors involved in the future of this area (STIB, De Lijn, SNCB, Urban, BMA, the municipalities concerned and with the assistance of the SAU), wishes to launch a study to:

  • A functional and programmatic master plan in terms of mobility for the wider area around the station
  • Technical, urban and landscape prescriptions for the public spaces or spaces for public use located within this perimeter

The study, while taking into account the structural constraints of the site (underground and above ground), will develop a vision focused on the optimal and qualitative functioning of the intermodal hub. It will create a qualitative framework for the creation of public spaces or spaces for public use within its perimeter.

It will provide a framework for consultation between stakeholders and for decisions on the operational implementation of projects.

To carry out this mission, Brussels Mobility is looking for a multidisciplinary team.
