The new main fire station of the Fire and Emergency Medical Service of the Brussels-Capital Region, currently in the study phase, will be located in the Port Business Park at Tour & Taxis, a developing area. All training for security professions, grouped under the name Brusafe, will also be centralized on this site.

Integrating the Brusafe training center into the new station offers numerous benefits, but for the specific program dedicated to practical exercises, it was decided to accommodate them in a separate building. Originally designed as an showroom and garage, the building invites passersby to look inside. However, the project of Brusafe mainly includes spaces for immersive simulation exercises, such as a dive pool, a dojo, or even a driving simulator, which require sufficient privacy. Most spaces will not be accessible to the public. On the other hand, Brusafe still wants to be visible and recognizable. The new building also offers the opportunity to serve as a flagship for the academy.

Furthermore, it is the explicit ambition of the developer to start as much as possible from the qualities of the existing building and to realize a flexible project in which, depending on the development of the school, adjustments can be made quickly without major works. The spaces must be designed in such a way that they can also be used for other functions than those indicated in the program.
