SCHOOL KLAVERTJE 4

Extension of the Klavertje Vier school and landscaping

The Heliport district has undergone quite a transformation in recent years, and it’s not over yet! After a Sustainable Neighbourhood Contract and various urban projects such as the Max-sur-Senne park, the sports tower, the forecourt of the school and the childcare centre Klavertje Vier, it is now the turn of the Klavertje Vier school.

The Neighbourhood Contract programme includes the renovation and extension of the school and the demolition of the childcare centre. The two projects are intrinsically linked, as the school has two classrooms within the existing childcare centre building. The programme foresees the construction of a mixed-use project on the site of the childcare centre, including a new childcare centre and 13 public housing units. The school therefore needs to relocate its two classrooms.

The project owner wished to extend the initial works in order to offer a broader reflection on the school site. The works include:

  • the construction of an extension on the school building to relocate the two demolished classrooms,
  • the reorganisation of the premises of the whole school which takes into account the current dysfunctions of the school,
  • the insulation of the façade of the building supporting the extension,
  • and last but not least, the creation of a landscaped area next to the school.

The project will have high ambitions for a reduced ecological footprint; whether in its construction, maintenance, operation or demolition. The aim will be to ensure quality of life and comfort within the school. Throughout the project, the “GRO” evaluation method will be used.

To carry out all of the works, the City of Brussels is looking for a multidisciplinary team
